TEA DETAILS

Leaf Grade: FTGOP - (Tippy) Clonal Special

Dry Leaf: Short, tightly-rolled black leaves; some with tips

Aroma: Crisp, vegetal cup with floral sweetness and a slightly astringent finish

Colour of Liquor: Dark Amber

Flavour of the Tea: The flavours in this summer tea are exceptionally well-rounded, ample in the mouth, quite aromatic, and intense enough to stand out

Compliments: A perfect complement to creamy desserts such as trifle or even an éclair.

Brewing Instructions: Always use fresh water. Bring water to near boiling point. Take one teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup. Pour the heated water and steep the tea for 4-5 mins.  Adjust the time of brewing as per desired strength. Leaves can be steeped multiple times till it gives flavour.

Tea Master Recommendation: Best enjoyed without milk. Can add honey and lemon to taste.  Always use fresh water. Do not use re-boiled water. The brewed leaves can be steeped multiple times with an increase in steeping time. Sip it when it cools down a little instead of boiling hot for enhanced flavour.

About the Garden: Margaret's Hope is one of the most famous tea estates of Darjeeling. Earlier known as Bara Ringtong, it was established in 1830 and renamed Margaret's Hope in 1927 by the owner, Mr Cruikshank. His daughter, Margaret was deeply attached to the place and had promised to return, before going to England. Unfortunately, she died of disease aboard her ship and her father renamed the garden to "Margaret's Hope", in her memory. The abundance of ferns and trees, the wildflowers and gushing streams, the velvety moss, lichens and orchids seem to beckon the China bushes to create some of the most exquisite teas in the country. Qualitatively, Margaret’s Hope is listed amongst the very top of Darjeeling estates and boasts of a very loyal clientele. The teas are most prized for their unique ‘muscatels’, comparable to sweet summer wines, with intense fragrant top notes of musk.
