This spring tea is from Castleton, one of the oldest gardens in Darjeeling. It is one of the best-known gardens and is famed for cultivating heritage China tea bushes. This first flush tea from Castleton is made from China Special bushes. The tea has a medley of flavors floral, fruity, citrus – it’s perfect for those who love a light yet flavorful brew.

TEA DETAILS

Leaf Grade: FTGOP (Special China)

Dry Leaf: Lightly-rolled greenish-black leaves.

Aroma: Sweet fruit and strong honeysuckle notes

Colour of Liquor: Bright Yellow

Flavor of the Tea: The liquor is sweet, full-bodied, well balanced and smooth tasting. It starts out on a brisk floral note, which lingers well into the middle. Look for notes of citrus around the edges. 

Compliments: Steamed seafood, salads with creamy dressing, tropical fruit, and cheese.

Brewing Instructions: Always use fresh water. Bring water to near boiling point. Take one teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup. Pour the heated water and steep the tea for 4-5 mins.  Adjust the time of brewing as per desired strength. Leaves can be steeped multiple times till it gives flavor.

Tea Master Recommendation: Best enjoyed without milk. Can add honey and lemon to taste.  Always use fresh water. Do not use re-boiled water. The brewed leaves can be steeped multiple times with an increase in steeping time. Sip it when it cools down a little instead of boiling hot for enhanced flavor.

About the Garden: Castleton is one of the most renowned of all Darjeeling estates, it is the crème de la crème of all Goodricke’s gardens.It was planted in 1885 by Dr. Charles Graham. The slopes span Kurseong, Pankhabari, and the Hill Cart Roads. Snow peaked ranges and soaring verdant hills encircle the garden. Castleton is truly the abode of the Gods. Here, mountain, earth, sun, mist, and dew, shed their gentle blessings to produce the world’s finest teas.
